Renyou ("we", "our", or "us") operates the Renyou mobile application. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, and safeguard your information when you use our app.
1. Information We Collect
Personal Information
- Phone Number — for account verification via OTP
- Profile Information — name, date of birth, gender, photos, bio, occupation, education, religion, interests, and lifestyle preferences you provide during onboarding
- Location Data — with your permission, to show nearby matches and calculate distances
- Voice Notes — optional audio recordings you add to your profile
- Contacts — only if you use the "Hide from contacts" privacy feature, and only to match phone numbers locally

- Device information (model, OS version)
- Usage data (swipes, matches, app sessions)
- IP address and general location
2. How We Use Your Information
- To create and manage your account
- To verify your identity through OTP and selfie verification
- To show you compatible matches using our matching algorithm
- To enable communication between matched users
- To improve our services and user experience
- To send important notifications about matches, messages, and account activity
- To enforce our community guidelines and prevent abuse
3. Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share data with:
- Other Users — your public profile information (name, photos, bio, interests) is visible to other users based on your privacy settings
- Service Providers — Firebase (authentication, database), Fast2SMS (OTP delivery), Razorpay (payments), Unsplash (stock images)
- Legal Requirements — if required by law, court order, or government request
4. Data Storage & Security
- Your data is stored on Firebase (Google Cloud) servers
- Photos and voice notes are stored in Firebase Storage with access controls
- We use encryption in transit (HTTPS/TLS) for all API communications
- Firestore security rules ensure users can only access their own data
- OTP codes expire after 10 minutes and are stored temporarily in server memory
5. Your Privacy Controls
You have control over your data:
- Profile Visibility — choose Open, Quiet (only visible to people you like), Geo (nearby only), or Hide from specific contacts
- Delete Account — permanently delete your account and data from Settings
- Location — you can deny location permission; the app works without it
- Contacts — contact access is optional and only used for the hide feature
6. Age Requirement
Renyou is intended for users aged 18 years and above. We verify age during onboarding and do not knowingly collect data from minors. If we discover a user under 18, we will delete their account immediately.
7. Third-Party Services
Our app uses the following third-party services, each with their own privacy policies:
- Google Firebase — Privacy Policy
- Razorpay — Privacy Policy
- Fast2SMS — Privacy Policy
8. Data Retention
We retain your data as long as your account is active. When you delete your account:
- Your profile is deactivated immediately
- Your data is marked for deletion
- Photos and voice notes are removed from storage
- Anonymized usage data may be retained for analytics
9. Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app. Continued use of Renyou after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
